Once there was an old farmer in a village. He had four sons. They always quarreled with one another. The farmer decided to teach them a good lesson. He called all of his sons one day. He asked them to bring four sticks. He tied them together and made a bundle. Then he gave this bundle to his eldest son to break it. The eldest son could not break the bundle. The other sons tried to break the bundle, separately but failed. Then the old man untied the bundle and gave a single stick to each of them to break it. This time they broke the single stick very easily. Then the farmer advised his sons to stop quarrelling and to work together. He taught a lesson to his sons that unity is strength.
